Non-Profit and Community

Saybrook Reads!

This new non-profit organization has a simple mission: to get every child reading in our community with the "right" book!

The process is simple, Old Saybrook families can complete an easy questionnaire on our website including details about their child's reading "wish list", then Saybrook Reads  will purchase these books for your child!

Lastly, we are passionate about getting the "right" book to your children. If you have questions about how to find the right reading level, no worries, our expert Practitioners can help!

Spread the word, local teachers, caregivers, organizations, and businesses can also make a request.

Attention Class of 2024!

Saybrook Reading will be offering a $1,000 scholarship to one student from the graduating class of Old Saybrook High School!

This scholarship is in honor of Andrea Albert, Sarah Fudge's mother who passed away from Alzheimer’s in 2019. Andrea was a popular High School teacher in which her students deeply admired. Often calling her "Mrs. A" in the hallways, she was known for having the loudest laugh and blasting "Green Onions" by Booker T. & the MG's on the last day of school. She will be mostly remembered for her sense of humor as it lightened everyones heart.

There are only two requirements:

1) Must be a graduate from Old Saybrook Public Schools

2) Must be going to college for education (any area)

Applications will be available on our website in January 2024. One applicant will be chosen on May 3rd, 2024.

Little Library Donatations!

We are currenly collecting any gently used books to keep stocking our communities Little Libraries! We want to make sure all kids have access to quality and interesting books. Take one, leave one!
